Renowned Pianist Cristina Ortiz generously agreed to perform at the University of Sydney's Great Hall for supporters and friends of The Microsearch Foundation of Australia on Sunday 28 October 2007.
This was Cristina's third appearance for Microsearch and her second recital in the Great Hall.
Cristina is in Sydney to open the Rachmaninov Festival under the baton of Maestro Ashkenazy, and will play Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto with theSydney Symphony Orchestra on the 2nd & 3rd of November.
The Medical Foundation Chair of Cancer Biology

As part of the new Comprehensive Cancer Centre being established at the RPAH and The University of Sydney by the Sydney Cancer Centre and the Centenary Institute, the Medical Foundation has agreed to support a new initiative, to be known as The Medical Foundation Chair of Cancer Biology.
The Chair will establish a large group of 10 or more people and be part of an international network. It will also bring together the faculties of Medicine and Science at the Univeristy, and clinicians at RPAH to focus on research that has wide utility and application in the study of Cancer.
Starting in 2008, the Medical Foundation has committed to provide $180k per annum.

The Medical Foundation will provide $206k to Associate Professor Christopher Jackson, Associate Professor Lyn March and Professor Philip Sambrook in 2008 for their project, Activated protein C reduces inflammation and promotes angiogenesis to accelerate healing of chronic wounds.
Funding will enable these investigators to develop preliminary data for an large and innovative multicentre clinical trial in vascular healing.
